About the Farmers

Ryder and I met in high school. It took me a while, but I finally convinced him to marry me. Since then we’ve had two little girls, moved a grand total of 11 times and kept a grouchy bulldog alive. It’s been a journey. As our girls began reaching school age, and with the looming effects of covid, we decided there was more we wanted to offer our family. We wanted a safe environment where our girls could learn at their own pace and explore the things that will eventually build them into being “who they are”. We wanted to foster an atmosphere that encouraged them to know that who they are will always be enough.

Our pursuits didn’t stop with our girls mental and emotional health and learning, but also with the physical health of our family as a whole. Why is it that our foods are demineralized, then “re”mineralized with necessary nutrients? Is the food in its natural state not already enough? These are just the surface questions we began asking, and these questions (well… amongst other things) is what brought us to bringing goats on our property.

I have an aversion to store bought dairy. I tend to lean towards a lactose free option and I also try to consume smaller amounts of cheese. Goat milk was a new possibility for me in 2020, but it ended up becoming a lifestyle for us over the next two years. I discovered that I have no aversions to goat milk, yogurt or cheese.

Goats milk is high in vitamins and its molecules are much smaller than those in cow milk. Goat milk naturally contains A2 casein proteins. This makes it so much easier to digest for both people and animals (goat’s milk is often used as a replacement milk to puppies and other animals where cow milk is not).

Besides keeping up with our farm and homeschool, we enjoy fishing, trips to the beach, Mexican food and chocolate-chip cookies. We’re also pretty serious over a good game of cataan, as long as there are gummy worms and coffee present. We’ve enjoyed the opportunity to participate in farmer’s markets, goat shows and making small home-improvements to our little homestead.
